Agistri is a small paradise on earth situated at the Saronic Gulf.
It is a verdant island full of pine trees touching its crystal clear sea, rocky coasts suitable for fishing and picturesque settlements. It is only 55 minutes from Piraeus and 10 minutes from Aegina and this is one reason that the island attracts many visitors every year.
Agistri has two natural ports which are approached by boats: the port of Skala and the port of Megalochori and four graphic settlements (Megalochori, Skala, Limenaria and Metochi).
It is ideal for unforgettable summer holidays and for relaxing. On the island there are numerous hotels, pensions, apartments and rooms to let of all categories, taverns where you will taste fresh fish and seafood, coffee shops, cinema, bars, clubs for your nightlife and many shops.
MEGALOCHORI or Mylos is the capital of the island. It is a picturesque settlement with stone made houses with stone-paved alleys, traditional cafes, and narrow streets.
In the center of the settlement is the church of Zoodohos Pigi, the Cathedral of the island.
In Megalochori you will find hotels, rooms to let, taverns, snack bars and coffee shops.
The settlement has a very nice beach with pebbles and sand. It has a natural port and a refueling marina for boats.
SKALA has a natural port where ferry-boats arriving from Piraeus and Aegina. It is the most popular point of the island, where the tourist infrastructure is excellent. There are numerous hotels, apartments and studios to let, taverns, snack bars, coffee shops and clubs operating all time. At Skala, with its imposing, white-washed church of Agii Anargiri, you will find a large cosmopolitan beach, with golden sand and crystal clear waters, ideal for swimming and for families with children. Sun beds and umbrellas are available.
To the left of Skala, following the coastal road to the northeast, we reach the rocky beach of Skliri. It is a new-built tourist area with modern hotel units, with a wonderful view to the Saronic Gulf.
Further on a narrow path, we reach the natural emerald bay of Chalkiada with big pebbles and crystal waters.
METOCHI : Between Skala and Megalochori is located Metochi with a superb view over the sea. There you will see the church of the Dormition of the Virgin. In the village there are many traditional taverns.
LIMENARIA is a traditional verdant settlement. Here is the church of Agia Kyriaki. The picturesque small port of Mareza is located 200 meters from Limenaria. It is a magic rocky beach with crystal deep waters.
At Polemi it is worth visiting the old church of Agia Barbara.
DRAGONERA has two beaches: Small and Big Dragonera. It is a pebbled beach with crystal clear waters.
West of Limenaria, we reach the exotic beach of APONISOS where the pine trees go down to the beach. In Aponissos we can admire the most beautiful sunset of Argosaronikos Gulf.
NEARBY ISLANDS
A little further is located the island of Dorousa a unique picturesque island that is worth visiting with the church of Prophet Elias, the island of Metopi with the small church of Agii Theodori, and the islet of Kira north-west of Dorousa.
