Between Samos, Ikaria and Patmos are the small islands of Fourni, Thymaina and Agios Minas. Administrativelly, they belong to the prefecture of Samos. The only inhabited are Fourni and Thymaina. The 9 smaller and uninhabited islands are an ideal environment for seabirds.

Fourni is 4 nautical miles from Samos, 6 n.m. from Ikaria and 9 n.m. from Patmos. It is connected by ferry boat with Samos.
The island has an area of 70 square kilometers and 2 settlements: Fourni and Chrysomilia.

In earlier times Fourni was called Korseon and it was the site of pirates.
