Antiparos is a small island south-west of Paros, 3 nautical miles from Parikia and 1 n.m. from Pounta. It has an area of 34 square kilometers, beautiful coastline and superb beaches. Its highest peak is Profitis Elias (399 meters).

Excavations on Antiparos and the neighboring islands of Despotiko and Saliangos have brought to light remains of a Neolithic civilization.
According to archaeologists, the traces of human inhabitation on Salinagos are the earliest in the Cyclades (4300 – 3700 BC).
The Neolithic remains found at Vouni on Antiparos belong to the end of this period.
Antiparos developed an important civilization in the Early Cycladic period, from which there are some notable finds: Cycladic figurines, pottery, weapons, tools, etc.
In ancient times the island was called Oliaros.
